Renovating the family home in lovely Whitley Bay was an opportunity to change the way they lived for Ron, Kathie and their two young daughters. To create a more sociable living space, the former kitchen and dining room were knocked through and a light and airy extension added to the back of the house.
The focal point of the new room is the Infinity Plus Handleless island in Periwinkle blue and topped with a sparkling worktop in Xena Quartz Aspen Ice - a must-have on Kathie’s dream kitchen list. This stylish centrepiece with its blue and white bar stools is framed by Infinity Plus Shaker wall and base units in Chalk White. For maximum use of space, two ovens, a hob and extractor are cleverly tucked into an original chimney breast. Units including deep drawers make for easy access and practicality with pull-out larders and fitted recycling bins.
The result is a stylish yet warm and welcoming space the family spends 95% of their time in - cooking, eating, working, watching TV and simply being together - with extended family and lots of friends.

"We knew early on we wanted a unique colour and only Wren had the ability to give us what we wanted in terms of the range and the colour.
What really helped was our designer gave us some samples to bring home so we could see them in our space and light - it helped us imagine exactly what our kitchen would look like," says Ron.
Top Tip
"We took our architect’s plan with us to the showroom when we sat down with the designer. We’d never chosen a brand new kitchen before so we weren’t 100% sure where to start.
"Wren measured our space before the renovation and two more times to ensure everything was an exact fit - such as the ovens fitting between the chimney breast. Communication was excellent and this took away one of our biggest concerns - how to co-ordinate the building work, and the ordering, delivery and fitting of the new kitchen," explains Kathie.
